International co-operation activities, August 2009
In August 2009, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration (HCMA) received the following international delegations visiting and working at the Academy:
1. From 3rd to 11th August 2009, the Institute of Philosophy organized an international philosophy workshop on the topic: “The contemporary East-Western philosophy” with the participation of scientists from the US Temple University and the head of the Institute of philosophy studies.
2. On August 5th 2009, the Academy received the teacher training class from provincial political schools, towns of Laos (19 people). On August 6th 2009, the International Co-operation Department coordinated with the Office of the Academy and Department of Training and management organizing an opening ceremony for the class.
4. On August 11th 2009, the Academy held a workshop with Doctor Francois Houtart- an independent Marxist theorist who is prestigious among progressive scholars and the third world as well as the progressive left-wing movement. The purpose of this workshop is share academic information on theory and reality of the world situation, the global financial downturn, the model and the modern progressive development policies, the socialism in a new phase and the left-wing situation in the world as well as exchanges of thinking and recommendations about the economic situation in Vietnam.
5. On August 14th 2009, the Academy welcomed a group of Laos’s people revolutionary party cadres for the training course in Advanced program in theory of Politics. The International Cooperation Department coordinated with the Office of the Academy and the Department of Training and management organized the opening ceremony for the class.
6. During 3 days from 17th to 19th August 2009, the Institute of Political Science held a seminar, talks with a German expert (Professor Artus) about the topic” Industrial conflict in the process of industrialization, modernization in Germany and Europe- Theory and practice”. This seminar is part of the research project “Theory of social conflicts and how to adapt it to politico – social context in Vietnam”, a cooperation project between the Institute of Political Science and the FES, Germany.
7. Under the framework of the project” Building the leadership science for the sustainable development in Vietnam”, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration (HCMA) in coordination with the Mark O, Hatfield School of Governance, Portland State University, USA held a workshop” A strategic framework of leadership science for the sustainable development in Post-WTO Vietnam” from 11th to 14th August 2009. Leadership and Governance are among the priorities for Development cooperation of the international cooperation of HCMA.
8. On August 26th , the President of the Academy had a courtesy reception for Dr. David Hulse, the Chief representative of Ford Foundation Office in Vietnam and Thailand and awarded him a Commemorative medal “ For the cause of building and developing the Academy” at the Academy. The Academy has been in cooperation with the Ford Foundation for over 15 years in doing number of capacity-building projects and social researches.
