International workshop on philosophy
In co-ordination with Center for Educational Exchange with Vietnam ( CEEVN) and Ford Foundation in Vietnam, the Institute of Philosophy organized the scientific workshop on “ Orient and Occident philosophy and its influence on current Vietnamese society” from 3rd to 11th of August, 2009. International participants of the workshop were the scientists from Faculty of Philosophy and the Center of Vietnamese philosophy, culture and society, Temple University – USA; Vietnam’s participants were professors of philosophy from the Institute of Philosophy, the Academy of Public Administration; the Regional Academy I; the Academy of Journalism and Mass Communication; and University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Vice-President of the Academy, Associate Professor, Dr Le Quoc Ly attended the opening session of the workshop and delivered a congratulatory speech.
This was the annual meeting following the co-operative schedule of the Institute of Philosophy and the Center of Vietnamese philosophy, culture and society of Temple University. It focused on some of the problems such as: the problems of civil society from the point of view of social philosophy, the Occidental Marxism, the impact of Marxist- Leninist and Ho Chi Minh’ ideology in Vienam, existential philosophy, Orient and Occident phenomena observable philosophy, feminism philosophy and the role of philosophy in real life.
During the workshop, the both sides have session for evaluation of 6-year co-operation, and planning for future cooperation between of the Institute of Philosophy and the Center of Vietnamese philosophy, culture and society of Temple University.
